Introduction and things to do
The island-city-country of Singapore is maybe the busiest and most typical port of the southeast of Asia. Conveniently located
between Malaysia and Indonesia, and creating a perfect bridge between Asia and Oceania, the city offers an eclectic mix of chinese, indian,
malay and colonial traditions and ambientations, all spilled with a touch of contemporanism and vanguard.
Well, once here I guess we will be a bit tired of going around, so we are very happy to know that Singapore has a huge reputation for
gathering the best of the asian cuisines, all of them rich and variated. Being exhausted carrying the backpack around, this will be perfect to
recover the lost kilos.
A part from that, doesn't seem like Singapore has many concrete attractives. Anyway, the chinese quarters can be interesting (I guess the indian
ones won't be too exciting for us at this stage), as long as a very central park / reserve where we will be able to see all sort of tropical
animals from very close.
Because here we will be in the middle of the tropic, so we will be a bit hot. Luckily, it will be the dry season, so won't be that that bad.
Accomodation
Originally we looked at a very nice little hotel, but having arranged all this Singapore stuff at the end, we have discovered that
by then we won't be that full of money, so very probably we will end up in a cheap backpacker hostel. However, nothing concrete still, so we will
see!
Getting there and away
If when we were in the Middle East area we used mainly Jazeera Airways, here we will travel together with Tiget Airways, a low cost company
based in Singapore (well, that's why we come here), which will have flied us from Chennai the 9th, getting here next local morning, and which will
also fly us to the final and far-far Australia, where we will enter from the northern Darwin the 12th.
