Introduction and things to do

Chennai is the third largest city in India and the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu. In times of the british rule, its name was changed, + as in many other cities in India. Probably many of us still know it better by its alternative name: Madras.

We don't mean to despise it, but we didn't really have intentions to visit Chennai, if it was not for the fact that the plane that will bring us away from India departs from here. So yes, today is already our last day in here. You see that the thing has gone by fast!

As our plane doesn't leave til almost 12 in the evening, we believe that is a good idea to get here in the morning and have some time to take a glimpse to the city. Specially, as a highlight, we can find some fine temples richly ornated and painted with many colours, so characteristic of this area.

Accomodation

We would have slept very quietly by the beach in Mamallapuram, si we will get here so relaxed and we won't spend any night here.

Getting there and away

The train that will bring us back from Mamallapuram takes about 2 hours to do the trip, and we have a huge variety to choose from. However, we have the intention to get here around noon. We will leave the bags at the left luggage at the station and we will explore the city til will be time to go. In the evening, we will take a bus or something to the airport, and from here, at 23.45, we will say goodbye to India - or better, we will say see you later to India - and we will leave direction Singapore in a Tiger Airways flight. Get to Singapore is actually just crossing the Gulf of Bengala, and it just takes XX. Anyway, with the time changing , we will get into the southeastern capital at 6.20 in the morning.
