From here anyway, the prices of the flight tickets have dictated our itinerary more than anything else, and Cyprus is not an exception Under other circunstances, we wouldn't have though to pay tribute to this lovely mediterranean island, where we can find a mix between major greek ruins and unchained summer parties. Going there in December, by the way, seems that won't allow us to enjoy the sun and the beaches that make this island famous, but surely we will be able to enjoy everything else.
Because after a previous investigation, we have discovered that there are lot of things to see and do. Infinite things. And 4 days show as absolutely insufficient. To be able to use a car will help us make our journey free and undecided. We don't know for sure still, but we have been thinking in visiting at least the cities of Larnaca and Lefkosia (the last divided capital in the world, shared between Cyprus and Northern Cyprus, which lays in the northern part of the island as a consequence of the split of the country in 1974, non recognized by the majority of international institutions.
Other mandatory visits will be Pafos and its mosaics and ruins; the beaches in the Akamas peninsula and Petra tou Romiou, where the legend says that the goddess Aphrodite, the most illustrous daughter of the island; or tha mountains of Troodos, with its small churches with highly praised bizantine frescoes.
We get there around 9 o'clock in the evening. They say that public transport in this country is quite sad, so mixing this with frlxibility and accomodation included, we have hired a car through the budget agent Economy Car Rentals, which we used already, with high satisfaction, in our trip to Hungary last year. We will take it directly at Larnaca airport, where we will bring it back also 3 full days later.
We must say that the island is trully small, with no more than 150 kilometres from side to side, so we don't expect more than 40 from stop to stop.
