Introduction and things to do
Being so close, and with the many cultural links between Denmark and Norway, is maybe strange that we have never been in Copenhagen.
Even more strange is that Tiffany, after some years already, hasn't been either. It seems now is the moment, though.
They say that Copenhagen is the least scandinavian of the scandinavian cities. At the same time, is considered the 'capital' of Scandinavia in many ways,
maybe because is the most cosmopolitan of its cities. Would that mean that scandinavian people are not cosmopolitan? We will leave it here...
Outside the Tivoli and the Little Mermaid (that I think it will be a deception of the kind of the Manneken Pis), as far as I know the city is
a bit short of specific sights or monuments and, more than anything else, we are waiting for the ambience, the animation, the atmosphere, and the
non-ending list of restauration locals that we will find around.
A part from that, the other main interest point in Copenhagen is Christiania, the city inside the city, with its own laws and its strange
stauts even today. It seems that the visit will be totally cultural, since none of us are users anymore of anything that they use to sell
there.
Our stay will last 2 days. Probably is not very much, but at least will be enough to have a general idea if we want to come back any other
time.
Accomodation
Copenhagen is not a cheap city. And the hotels, generally speaking, are not cheap either. And if on top of that we want them to
have a parking to leave our car filled with our most valuable possessions, the thing becomes very complicated. But even then, after an
exhaustive research, we found the
Hotel Nebo, which is not any luxuri spot, but seems to fullfill all our demands and it is located
very close to the centre.
Getting there and away
Our ferry gets into Copenhagen at 9 o'clock in the morning, after sailing all night from Oslo. Those boats that link Denmark and
Norway use to have the fame to be full of party norwegians looking for duty free prices. However, a monday in november doesn't look like
more than some truck drivers. The company that we are using, by the way, is the DFDS.
